29 Jan A Quick Look at the New Noritz EZ Series Tankless Water Heater
Tankless water heaters are getting more popularity among homeowners lately due to their multiple benefits. Also known as on-demand water heaters, tankless units heat water only when needed. This not only eliminates the need for a storage tank but also the losses linked to continuously maintaining a tank full of water.
Another reason why such units are more practical is because they have a life expectancy of about 20 years—much longer than the typical tank-type water heater. Lack of a tank also eliminates the chances of water damage and tank leaks.
If you’re planning to make the big switch to a tankless heater, it’s important to know the basics first. This article will give you the key information about Noritz’s new line of tankless water heaters and why you need one for your home and/or commercial property.
Overview of the EZ Series
Specially engineered for the North American market, the EZ Series is made up of high-efficiency tankless water heaters that boast shorter installation time. These units cost much less than replacing bigger storage tank-type units and are designed for faster, easier retrofits.
The latest EZ98-DV and EZ111-DV (Energy Factor: 0.97) models join EZTR40—another Energy Star-rated unit—in providing homeowners with a wider range of tankless options. They are perfectly suited for customers looking for easy tankless installation without the hassle brought by conventional water heaters.
Both new models of the EZ Series have hot and cold water connections placed on top of the unit—not on the bottom, like other tankless heaters. Why is this an advantage? Because this positioning makes it easier for you to quickly and seamlessly connect old water lines from your previous tank heater to your new unit.
Additionally, the EZ Series has less moving parts, which optimizes the perfect ratio of air and fuel based on the demand for improved efficiency. Two stainless steel heat exchangers can be found inside each EZ unit, which allows for better resistance to scale build-up and corrosion compared to other materials. This results in a boost in your system’s lifespan.
In terms of technological advancement, the new EZ models are compatible with the Noritz connect app. This lets you have wireless remote control of different heater functions and maintenance/diagnostic reminders.
If you have an average size home, the EZ98-DV might be the best for you. It has a maximum input of 180,000 BTUs per hour (BTU/hr) coupled with a maximum flow rate of 9.8 gallons per minute (gpm). This makes it perfect for any residential property with up to three bathrooms.
On the other hand, bigger homes can benefit greatly from the EZ111-DV. It has up to 199,900 BTU/hr and offers flow rates to 11.1 gpm. This heater is designed for homes with up to four bathrooms.
